Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £48,365 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking a committed, child-centred, and experienced Registered Manager to lead a newly developed children’s residential home in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for either an existing Registered Manager looking for a fresh challenge or a strong Deputy Manager ready to step up into registration.
This role offers the chance to shape and lead a refurbished three-bed home, building a stable, nurturing, and high-quality service from the ground up. Working closely with the Responsible Individual and senior operational leadership, you will have full oversight of the home’s development, culture, and standards of care.
We are looking for a leader who listens to children, values individuality, and builds services around real needs rather than processes alone. The successful candidate will create an environment where children feel safe, heard, and supported, and where staff are motivated to deliver consistently excellent care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the children’s home in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Secure and maintain Ofsted registration (if not already registered)
- Develop and deliver the Home’s Statement of Purpose, Children’s Guide, and risk frameworks
- Build, lead, and develop a committed and capable staff team
- Ensure strong safeguarding culture and safe care practice at all times
- Deliver high standards of care, planning, and outcomes for children and young people
- Maintain full regulatory and policy compliance
- Oversee staffing levels, rotas, and workforce planning based on children’s needs
- Work closely with the Responsible Individual and partner agencies
- Drive continuous improvement across quality, practice, and inspection readiness
What We Offer
You will be supported by an experienced leadership team and given the tools, training, and operational backing needed to build and run a high-quality home.
Benefits include:
- Competitive salary up to £48,365
- Structured leadership support and operational guidance
- Access to a specialist social care training academy
- Ongoing professional development opportunities
- Local Government pension scheme
- 25 days annual leave rising to 30 days with service
- Option to purchase additional annual leave
- Employee wellbeing support including 24-hour assistance programme
- Staff discounts and wider benefits platform
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Ofsted registration as a Registered Children’s Home Manager, or the experience working in a children’s residential care setting
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or equivalent), or commitment to complete
- Proven leadership experience within a children’s residential care setting
- Strong working knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
- Robust safeguarding and child protection knowledge
- Experience managing and developing residential care teams
- Ability to work effectively with external professionals and agencies
- Resilience, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset
If you are ready to lead a children’s home where quality, stability, and child-focused care come first, we would welcome your application.
