We are currently recruiting for an Accountant/Financial Controller to work for a global organisation specialising in the import of timber.  Employees are considered the success of the company and will be given the chance to be involved in a niche industry.

 

With offices based close to South Croydon, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Accountant who holds the experience of working within a standalone role for an SME.

 

Salary: £40,000 - £47,000 (negotiable depending on experience)

What will your working week be like?

 

The business operates on an international basis, managing logistics and shipping worldwide.  Working in a small team of 9 people you will report directly to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.

 

This is a standalone Finance role and is key to the management and running of the business. The role manages both accounting and payroll and you will be responsible for ensuring that all processes and reporting are efficient and effective.  The role will manage international bank accounts and multiple currencies.  You will be responsible for providing management insights and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

 

As well as managing the day to day accounting and payroll procedures , ensuring purchase and sales ledgers are kept up to date and processing invoices and allocating costs to appropriate contracts, you will also be running monthly reporting (including P&L and Balance Sheet), overseeing all foreign currency cash transactions and producing monthly management accounts.

Who will suit this role?

 

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of 4-5 years Accountancy experience within an SME, with experience of managing and trading multiple currencies. You will be able to demonstrate the experience of having responsibility for all aspects of an accounting software package (ideally knowledge of Sage Payroll and Exchequer)

Essential experience/skill set:

  • Proven experience of working within international trade
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Able to communicate effectively and build positive relationships
  • Capability to act as Finance Business Partner to Board
  • Works independently and under own initiative managing multiple and changing priorities
  • Proactive

Desirable experience:

  • Experience of running monthly payroll, RTI and workplace pensions
  • Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
