How does working for an established energy services provider for over 40 years sound? My client is a well-established and innovative Data analysis organisation who helps organisations manage their energy better and are well-respected within their division.

Due to continued success and business change my client is now looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to pro-actively engage and work closely with suppliers to understand their current and evolving needs in order for the business to align relevant products and services to support them moving forward.

You will develop deep commercial relationships with suppliers critical to business’s future growth; positioning the company as their provider of choice for metering and data services. In addition to this you will organise and lead regular commercial meetings with suppliers and develop strong relationships with multiple stakeholders within each supplier account, ensuring that all suppliers are aware of the range of products and services that Stark offers and actively seek out and convert opportunities to provide those services.

This role is based on 35 hours, Mon – Fri, working from home ( so successful candidates can live anywhere in the UK provided you are happy to travel to the head office in, Surrey for meetings etc) and will be expected to travel across the UK as required for the role, including visiting customers and any of the extended offices ( currently Gatwick, Blackpool, Epsom) for meetings, training, etc. All travel and accommodation expenses covered by the business.

Offering a competitive salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum plus up to £15k bonus opportunity per annum DOE.

Is this the right role for you?

The ideal candidate must have the passion and hands-on experience of working within sales/business development/Account management role within the energy/utilities sector. This is a niche market and therefore the client is looking for the individual to have gained experience in their field. In addition, you will hold the following:

  • Extensive energy supplier knowledge and working.  Must have a supplier background in operations
  • Strategic thinker who can apply a range of analytical techniques to prioritise activities.
  • Confidently handles complex sales and negotiation processes and is able to respond to unanticipated situations.
  • Track record of success in a sales, business development or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passion for energy, and for transforming the energy sector through technology.
  • Confidently handled complex sales and negotiation processes and is able to respond to unanticipated situations.
  • Sector experience is preferred, as is evidence of familiarity of working in a high growth, high tech environment.
  • Is able to influence others to bring company resources to bear on complex situations.
  • Is able to effectively time manage between short term reactive and proactively achieving key business goals.

You will be a brilliant communicator who is familiar with liaising and selling to senior executives, coupled with the strong interpersonal and rapport building capabilities. In a nutshell you will be a confident peoples person!
