We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join an established Heating and Ventilation Contractor based in Caterham. The Company is a family owned and run business and they are looking for the right people to join their successful operation with good promotion and career prospects.

 

Their works sectors include Residential, Commercial, Education, Healthcare and Leisure and they have their own CAD / Design Department as well as dedicated management and installation teams.

 

The range of services the client undertakes and therefore needs estimation services for include, drainage, hot and cold services, boilers and heating services, ventilation systems, Air Conditioning, Installations and Controls, amongst others. They have estimation systems in place which can be adopted and worked with, or if the successful candidate has their own they are quite open and flexible to work with. Typical projects value from £100,000 to £11M.

 

  • Ensure accurate estimates and tenders are produced in a timely and professional manner
  • Estimate all jobs within the agreed contract performance targets in line with the company’s pricing guidelines
  • Work with all sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure you are provided with accurate and timely quotes
  • Ensure that produced quotes are market competitive and represent value for money
  • Conduct benchmarking evaluation on tenders received
  • Prepare tender submission in line with the client specification and evaluation
  • Understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and on time
  • Mitigate risk to the business
  • Carry out work in a safe and diligent manner
  • Comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain the company’s confidential information policy

 

Who will this role suit?

 

You would be working in a relaxed friendly atmosphere with a dedicated office team and working with and reporting to the Office Manager who leads the Estimation Process.

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services Engineering or similar/equivalent ideal
  • Technically competent with a good understanding of mechanical and electrical installation methods and pricing
  • Understanding of construction methods
  • Strong mathematical and IT skills
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Attention to detail
  • Full confidence in accuracy of estimates/tenders produced
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks at the same time
  • Ability to work as part of a team

 

The successful applicant will be working on a self-employed basis and will be looking to earn £150-£170 per day. This can be negotiable for the right individual.
