Come and join one of our client’s beautiful Nurseries, who are currently seeking two Room Leaders, one for their Baby Room and the other for their Preschool Room.  They are a family-run Day Nursery who pride on providing excellent childcare for children aged 3 months - 5 years and giving them the opportunity to discover their own interests and explore their abilities through structured free play and by offering a range of activity choices.

This Nursery offers progression on a much larger scale due to the fact they have two settings within 5 minutes of each other, that are both easily accessible by public transport and car.

Location: Penge

Positions: Two Room Leaders, one for their Baby Room and the other for their Preschool Room.

Salary: Up to £22,000

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the guidance/support/direction/discipline and general supervision of staff, students and volunteers working within the Childcare service.
  • Mentoring students on practical placement. Provide verbal and written feedback to aid reflective learning.
  • To develop the Children’s Program (reflecting Early Years Learning Framework guidelines). Write up the program, co-operating with staff and Children’s needs.
  • In compliance with the OH&S Policy, ensure a safe environment is maintained for staff and children, with particular attention to children with anaphylaxis, allergies, asthma etc.
  • To ensure that accurate records are kept in regard to accident, incident, injury, illness and medication. The appropriate books/records are to be checked on a regular basis to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • To ensure staff are aware of current thinking and practice in early childhood education, and service delivery.
  • To liaise with families in regard to the day to day happenings.
  • To co-operate and communicate effectively with parents about their child-care needs.
  • To promote good parent / Centre relationships.
  • To promote and maintain positive working relationships with other staff.
  • To actively support and co-operate with other staff in their child-care duties.
  • To encourage parental involvement in the Childcare program.
  • To maintain observations and records of individual children’s progress, particularly those identified through staff observation.

The Nursery recognise that every child is unique and has their own voice; they encourage them to use their words and express their interests, which helps to plan activities and curriculum. This Day Nursery works within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and focuses on developing the prime and specific areas of each child’s learning before the start of school. They pride themselves on valuing individuality and difference in each child, which is supported throughout each child’s stages of development.
