Children’s Residential Home West London
Full Time  40 Hours Per Week

We are recruiting an experienced and confident Senior Residential Practitioner to join a well-established Children’s Residential Home supporting young people within a structured, safeguarding-led environment.

This is a leadership role within the home, supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to ensure the highest standards of care, compliance and practice are maintained at all times.

This is not just a shift role. It is a position of responsibility and influence.

The Role

As Senior Residential Practitioner, you will:

  • Support the Registered Manager and Deputy in delivering safe, high-quality care
    • Lead shifts and provide guidance to Residential Practitioners
    • Represent the management team in their absence
    • Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing remain central to practice
    • Oversee accurate and compliant record keeping
    • Maintain high standards of incident reporting and documentation
    • Ensure medication systems and safety procedures are followed correctly
    • Contribute to staff supervision and performance development
    • Promote positive behaviour and clear, consistent boundaries

You will also act as Key Worker to a number of young people, ensuring their individual needs, education, independence skills and emotional development are supported in line with their care and placement plans.

Leadership & Accountability

This role includes:

  • Drawing up and overseeing shift plans
    • Conducting structured handovers
    • Contributing to rotas
    • Supporting probationary reviews
    • Attending care planning meetings, child protection meetings and court when required
    • Ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and safeguarding legislation
    • Promoting equality, anti-discriminatory practice and positive behaviour at all times

You will be expected to demonstrate professional confidence, sound judgement and the ability to make safeguarding decisions under pressure.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Children’s Residential setting
    • Strong safeguarding knowledge
    • Ability to lead shifts confidently
    • Experience of care planning and report writing
    • Good understanding of regulatory frameworks
    • Commitment to professional development

This is a role for someone who understands that consistency, leadership and accountability protect young people and strengthen homes.
