Our client is searching for an experienced Quality Manager to help them shape the future of the organisation.

 

As an independent distributor of electrical and electro-mechanical components, our client supplies products to major manufacturers in the UK Defence, Aerospace and Rail industries as well as manufacturing selected products on-site. With over 1,500 active customers and 500 suppliers, this company is well-established, stable and still expanding.

 

What will your working week be like?

 

The Quality Manager role is to develop and maintain the Quality System in accordance with the business needs, the requirements of the industry and the approval authorities. Working with all staff, customers and suppliers, this role provides authority and instils confidence in the company by ensuring the delivery of the right products to the customer’s timescale requirements.

 

  • Establish and maintain procedures to ensure the company monitors and adheres to relevant Government and International trading regulations
  • Maintain awareness of ITAR and UK export control requirements
  • Monitor the quality outcome of activities and take the lead in promoting the elimination of the cause of any errors
  • Maintain the Quality Management System to meet required standards, ensuring the company achieves and retains all relevant approvals and accreditations
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in line with required deadlines
  • Contribute to the development of company policies and procedures
  • Manage and perform internal/external audit programmes to maintain accreditations and ensure all procedures are adhered to
  • Monitor outcomes to ensure quality throughout
  • Encourage and promote a quality culture throughout the business
  • Promote best practice to achieve the company quality objectives
  • Monitor returns and complaints to ensure that they are dealt with promptly and to the satisfaction of all parties
  • Establish inspection criteria and levels for all inspection activities, ensuring training is provided to staff where required

 

Who will suit this role?

 

  • Experience of working as Quality Manager (or similar role)
  • Experience designing and managing Quality systems under ISO9001 within the electro-mechanical components industry
  • Formal qualifications to support this experience (HND, degree, etc in Engineering/relevant subject)
  • Experience of audit management
  • An understanding of/experience of working to AS9120
  • Familiar with the expectations and requirements of defence and aerospace supply chains, primarily within the UK but also extending to export markets including export licensing and importing under ITAR
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT Skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
