Customer Service Advisor

Our client is an established and successful debt recovery company based in Croydon, who work with several leading organisations including the Public Sector to help them manage their outstanding debts and manage overdue accounts. They are passionate about providing customer in arrears with a professional and compassionate experience whilst meeting their clients’ expectations.
You will be more than just a friendly voice to answer their questions; you will be an attentive listener and problem solver too. This is a rewarding position as you will be able to assist customers with a simple query or be required to handle a more complex situation to find a suitable solution to support and resolve their financial difficulties. This is a varied and interactive role where no two days are the same. You will be joining a supportive team of Advisors who are guided, trained, and developed to be able to represent multiple clients.
Starting Salary: £20,320 plus monthly bonus of up to £200.
Location: Croydon, with the opportunity for the role to go hybrid or fully remote after the probation period of 3 months
Start Date: 5th June 2023 – you must be available to attend the initial 2 weeks training
Who will suit this role?
Our client is looking for a team player, whilst also being able to work autonomously with strong interpersonal skills and an excellent telephone manner. Whilst experience of working within a Contact Centre is desirable, it’s not essential. The successful candidate will hold previous experience of working within a customer service position, however, if you have experience of debt collection/debt recover/arrears management this would be an advantage.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with customers who are experiencing financial difficulties
- Confident in overcoming customer objections and sometimes having challenging conversations
- Demonstrate effective questioning and negotiation skills
- Highly organised and possess strong planning skills
- Ability to remain calm when under pressure
- Confident communicator with effective verbal, written and listening skills
- Processing payment transactions and establishing repayment plans and timelines
- Confident decision maker who pays close attention to detail
- Show empathy towards customers circumstances where appropriate

Hours during 5 weeks training: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Working hours: The department is open from 8.30am to 7.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 6.30pm on Fridays. There is a semi shift rota working 37.5 hours a week.
