Customer Service Representative

£22,000 - £23,600

Our client based in Epsom are a leading Building Society in the heart of Epsom who continuously growing and therefore are in a position to recruit a New Business Customer Service Representative to join their vibrant and busy team within the Head Office.


Working at the Head Office in a lovely building full of character, this is a really lovely opportunity to be involved in the initial point of contact for prospective customers and intermediaries making enquiries about the products and services offered by the Society.

Salary: £22,100 - £23,600

Hours: Monday to Friday and 1 Saturday in 4 as paid overtime (9am – 12pm)


What will your working week be like?


  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of all products and services offered by the Society, its subsidiary and associated companies.
  • Respond promptly, accurately and efficiently to enquiries from existing and prospective customers, intermediaries and other relevant third parties ensuring a helpful solution is offered in all instances.
  • Promote the products and services offered by the Society to existing and prospective customers and intermediaries.
  • Issue relevant literature, illustrations and application forms for savings accounts, mortgages and additional loans to prospective and existing customers and to intermediaries.
  • Proactively follow up enquiries made through marketing activities or the website with a view to converting these into applications for the Society’s products or leads for third parties.
  • Respond to requests for progress updates from customers or intermediaries between receipt of the application and the Completion of a mortgage account.
  • Maintain filing and record keeping systems for each mortgage application.
  • Deal with general tasks and special projects that are customer related such as identifying suitable candidates for case studies.
  • Proactively call our existing mortgage customers to provide details of alternative mortgage solutions at the end of their fixed term.
  • Provide support and cover for other team members as requested.


Who will suit this role?


This role may suit a recent graduate who is looking to further their experience within phone-based customer service environment or someone who holds 1 years financial services background with experience of phone work

  • English Language and Maths GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent
  • Relevant degree or alternative would be beneficial
  • Proven experience of providing a quality customer service
  • Previous Financial Services/Insurance/Mortgage experience would be beneficial but not essential
  • A genuine desire to provide a high level of customer service and administration support
  • The ability to effectively multitask
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Fast accurate typing skills
  • PC Literate
